A matter of course

From 2018

One of the architectural ornaments of Barden House will be a continuous concrete lintel that runs around the whole building at window height level, which is technically described as a stringer course. The best supplier for this type of high quality finish precast work is Moore Concrete from Ballymena, County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Here we can see progress of the stringer course in their factory.

After the form has been made and the reinforcing steel placed within, the concrete is added and allowed to set before the form is removed

The completed beams "rest" for a while whilst the form is reused for the next beam

The segments weigh about 500kg each, and need to be carefully handled to avoid damage as the corners are very fragile.

The stringer course also has corner units.

Ready for shipment over the Irish Sea to the site.

Our thanks to our friends at Moore Concrete for the pictures
