...And polishing it off

After the concrete has been pumped into place it can be levelled off with a vibrating concrete beam.

This helps get rid of small bubbles of air. A good pair of wellies is needed.

Small areas can be worked with a traditional hand trowel (here the southern entrance to the western unit)

The centre can be smoothed out with a long handled trowel.

Towards the end of the day the concrete is set firmly enough to walk on, but not so firm that it can't be polished. The power floats can then be fired up. These have 4 trowels rotating like an industrial polisher, and will give a beautiful high quality smooth finish.

The work was only finished under spotlights at the end of the long day. Thanks due to the great construction team!
