Never mind the Blocks...

One of the innovative features at Barden House is the use of an advanced chambered clay block in the walls, branded as Porotherm.

The secret of the block is very precise fabrication dimensions, which allows for a very thin 1mm mortar bed. This in turn allows fast laying rates.

The blocks can be sawn easily to precise dimensions.

The air chambers inside make the block light to lift and good at insulating.

These blocks are very popular in the mainland Europe, but Barden House is one of the first buildings using Porotherm in Scotland. New Lidl and Aldi stores also use them.

A steady flow of specialist visitors will be coming to the site over the next few weeks to view this innovative blockwork.
